I volunteered for a month as part of Good Earth Global to build a earthquake resistant home in the Himalayan mountains for a widow and her family. 

The Earthbag technology is rudimentary but effective. Essentially floating on gravel/boulder foundations allowing it to move with the earthquake movement.

Hard work but well worth it!
